Would you like to learn Reflexology?

Learn how you can help yourself and others with ancient and modern techniques of Reflexology. This modality is practiced around the world, used in hospitals, holistic centers, and recommended by high-profile medical doctors such as Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Bernie Siegel.

Reflexology is a natural therapy that has been utilized for centuries by many ancient cultures. In the early twentieth century, an American doctor traveling in Europe encountered zone therapy, a component of modern day Reflexology. Zone therapy had been in use for centuries. This traveling doctor returned to the United States bringing back with him this zone therapy, which he utilized on patients for pain reduction. He shared his discovery with the public and others in the health care world. Another doctor, who found this therapy useful, further developed foot maps and application techniques. A pioneer physical therapist that worked with “Reflex Zone Therapy of the Feet, “ carried out years of study and careful observation. She discovered that through the application of specific hand techniques to the feet that there was more than just pain reduction but a whole-body balancing. She traveled across the US and Canada and wrote several self-help books. Today, Reflexology is practiced around the world. There are many associations representing the field as well as continued research. Theories of how this wonderful therapy works are many. One key point is that Reflexology helps reduce the effects of stress. By reducing stress, many health issues diminish or disappear.

Reflexology is unique in the health world. It’s purpose is not to diagnose or prescribe a medical disorder, but to promote overall homeostatic balance and relaxation. The reflexology recipient also is made more aware of their own well-being and health.

Reflexology is not a massage where the focus is on the entire musculoskeletal system but uses special hand and finger techniques for the foot, hand, face and ear. The focus is on reflex areas and zones that “reflect” the entire body. The use of alternating pressure with specific Reflexology techniques have an overall balancing affect on the body, mind and spirit. The theory of Reflexology states that there are reflex areas on the feet, hands, face and ears, which correlate to all organs and body parts. Hands-on application of specific techniques to these reflex points result in deep relaxation and a reduction of stress, causing a physiological change in the entire body, boosting the immune system and bringing the body back in balance.

A certified Reflexologist has many hours of training. Part of their training includes study of the body's systems in-depth. Reflexology is easy to learn by anyone without prior bodywork experience. This is a wonderful holistic therapy addition for healthcare professionals such as nurses, massage therapists, chiropractors, reiki therapists and others in the holistic health field. This training offers useful knowledge for anyone looking for an alternative career or volunteering in a holistic environment, as well as a natural therapy to use for your family and friends.

Why Get Certified?
Reflexology is becoming more and more popular as a complementary therapy in the health care profession. Qualified, competent, professional Certified Reflexologists are being sought by the public and the healthcare industry. Becoming certified not only promotes the field of Reflexology but establishes that you have the credentials to offer competent, skilled Reflexology.
